Why to buy a home south of the airport
Should I buy a home south of the airport
Atlanta is a great city and there are benefits of buying anywhere around the city. We want to share some of the benefits for purchasing on the south side of metro Atlanta and the reason areas like Fayette and Coweta counties keep seeing substantial growth over the last several years. There are many advantages to buying down south but we want to point out two major categories that include value and travel.
The value of living on the southside of Atlanta often come with lower taxes and lower prices. Getting outside of the city or more specifically Fulton County should mean lower taxes. You can go to smartasset.com and look up the property tax calculator and see that Fulton County taxes are at 1.144% while Coweta is at .905% and Fayette is at 1.063%. On top of lower taxes property home prices per square foot is also significantly lower. www.zillow.com breaks down the median price per square foot and shows Fulton County at $168 per square foot while Coweta is only $107, and Fayette is only $115.
So now we know you can save money by living on the south side of Atlanta, but a lot of people feel the extra money is worth it due to the convenience of living in the city with less of a commute to work, if you work inside the perimeter. The truth is travel may be easier for you on the south side even if you travel a longer distance. A couple members of the Susan Annis & Associates team experienced this first hand when they lived in Coweta County and traveled to Georgia State University for their degrees. These members would consistently get to campus faster then the students who lived much closer but dealt with traffic through the city on their way in. Many of our clients through the years have been airline employees who deal with a high stress job being responsible for the safety of hundreds of people in the sky every day. They consistently tell us that the stress-free commute from south of the airport helps them cope with the pressure they face at work. The commute is normally much less than an hour and fellow employees that work at the airport and travel into the city or north of the city, take much longer to arrive home.
Whether living inside or outside of the city, Susan Annis & Associates are happy to assist with any of your home buying and selling needs. It is always important to know the benefits of the different metro Atlanta areas when making such a big investment. Each side of the city as well as downtown have so much to offer.
